What’s going on: Anthropic has launched “Claude for Education”, a new AI chatbot tier designed for colleges and universities, positioning it as a direct competitor to OpenAI’s ChatGPT Edu plan. This new chatbot targets higher education institutions, providing students, faculty, and staff access to Anthropic’s Claude chatbot with added features tailored for academic use.

What does it mean: The move reflects Anthropic’s strategy to expand its footprint in the education sector, where AI adoption is growing, and to challenge OpenAI’s dominance. The distinguishing feature of Claude for Education is “Learning Mode,” integrated into Claude Projects, which aims to foster critical thinking rather than just delivering answers. When activated, it prompts students with questions to test comprehension, highlights key principles behind problems, and offers templates for research papers, outlines, and study guides.

Partnering with OpenAI, Tinder integrates the GPT-4o model to create a voice-based game where users interact with AI personas in simulated romantic scenarios.

What does it mean: The setup is simple; tap the Tinder logo in the app to access a deck of cards, each presenting a unique AI character and a “meet-cute” situation, like mixing up luggage at an airport. Users respond vocally, aiming to secure a date with the bot, and receive a score on a three-flame scale along with real-time feedback to tweak their approach.
