Must Know

Elon Musk chosen to lead Department of Government Efficiency (Doge)

🚀 Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy are selected by Donald Trump to lead a new initiative called the Department of Government Efficiency (ever heard about Doge before?!) This department is not a formal government agency; instead, Musk and Ramaswamy will provide advice to the White House on how to 🔻 reduce government waste and bureaucracy.

Musk has claimed, everything the department does will go 🌐 online for transparency. He aims to ✂ cut federal spending by $2 trillion. The goal is to complete their work by July 4, 2026, coinciding with America's 250th anniversary. Critics say that Musk lacks the necessary experience in government efficiency.

Trump’s tariff era

Donald Trump’s victory has raised the concern for 👆 higher tariffs on imports from China, but it may not be the only Asian country that faces this new era. South Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam might just be affected.

This shift could lead to increased tariffs on these nations as Trump focuses on reducing trade imbalances. Tariffs are taxes on imported goods that U.S. companies would pay, 💸 raising costs for consumers.

As these countries face scrutiny, they might do two things:

  • increasing imports from the U.S.

  • changing trade practices to avoid tariffs

Despite the risks, some businesses might continue 🚚 relocating supply chains from China to Southeast Asia and India. Trump plans to impose tariffs of 10% to 20% on all imports and up to 100% on Chinese goods.

The mass deportation

As we approach the Donald Trump’s second term, many are worried about the mass deportation plans could affect their 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 families, while some hope for improvements.

Trump's team is focusing on deporting undocumented immigrants with criminal records, but advocates fear this could expand to innocent individuals in communities across the U.S. LULAC is already securing funds and legal help to fight what they call harsh immigration policies.

  • In Houston and NY: Community leaders are fighting for keeping families together

  • In California, 👨‍🌾 farmers rely on migrant workers and they demand a reform in immigration due to worker shortages.

What are blackholes and how they form?

Source: nationalgeographic.com

Black holes are regions in space with such strong gravity that nothing, not even 💡 light, can escape them. They typically form when massive 🌟 stars, those at least 8 times the mass of our Sun, exhaust their nuclear fuel and explode. This process often results in a supernova 💥 explosion, where the outer layers of the star are blasted away, leaving behind a dense core that collapses into a black hole.

There are two main types of black holes:

  • stellar black holes, which form from dying stars,

  • supermassive black holes, found at the centers of 🌌 galaxies.

Supermassive black holes can be millions to billions of times heavier than the Sun and may form through the merging of smaller black holes or from large gas clouds collapsing directly. As black holes grow, they can pull in surrounding matter, increasing their mass and influence.

Black holes can be studied indirectly by observing how they affect nearby stars and gas. For instance, when matter falls into a black hole, it heats up and emits X-rays before crossing the event horizon, the point of no return, making them detectable through their energetic emissions.
