How to make action figures with AI

ChatGPT's latest AI image generator (4o image generation), powered by the impressive GPT-4o model, is a fascinating tool. You've likely seen the wave of Ghibli-style images created with it sweeping across the internet or maybe you've even experimented with creating an anime version of yourself! But while that trend continues, another exciting style is turning people’s heads: AI-generated action figures.

Imagine having a unique action figure based on you. In this quick guide, I'll show you exactly how to use ChatGPT's powerful new tool to design cool-looking, personalized action figure of yourself, in just 4 easy steps.

Step 1: Sign in to your ChatGPT account

First, go to chatgpt.com or download its app from Google Play or App Store. Then log in to your account, or create one if you don’t have a ChatGPT account. In the free-tier plan of ChatGPT you will likely have limited access to its new image generation tool that lets you generate just one image every 10-12 hours.

Step 2: Upload an image of yourself

Now it’s time to show ChatGPT how you look. If you upload only a headshot of yourself, you should also tell it what your body looks like or the kind of clothes you’d want your action figure to have on. If you upload a full-body portrait of yourself, that would even be better.

For uploading your photo, click on the plus icon in ChatGPT’s prompt box (on its website) or photo icon on its mobile apps. Upload the headshot or full-body portrait of yourself. In the next step we will give ChatGPT the actual prompt to generate an action figure based on your looks.

Step 3: Write the prompt

Now, we have reached the fun part of this tutorial. In the same prompt box where you uploaded your photo, write this prompt and personalize it as much as you like:

“Generate an action figure toy of the person shown in this photo. The figure should be a full figure and displayed in an unboxed blister pack. She/he always has [insert objects you want]. Write the name [insert your name] on the front of the packaging”.

Step 4: Download your image

After you’ve entered this prompt, you should give it 3-5 minutes to generate your image. After your image has been generated, you can download it on your own device. Here is the final image that ChatGPT created for me:
