Elon Musk challenges ChatGPT makers

Elon Musk is asking a πŸ‘¨β€βš–οΈ federal court to block OpenAI from becoming a fully πŸ’° for-profit company. His legal team filed a motion for a preliminary injunction, claiming that OpenAI is pressuring investors not to fund competitors like Musk's AI startup, xAI.

In response, OpenAI called Musk's claims 🧐 baseless. The company is currently transitioning from a nonprofit to a public benefit corporation to attract more investment.

βš– This legal battle underscores the intense competition in the rapidly growing AI industry, projected to exceed $1 trillion in revenue within the next decade. This lawsuit is Musk's latest move (yep, this is not his first move!) to challenge OpenAI’s direction and raise concerns about the future of AI development.

Costco recalls eggs due to salmonella contamination

Costco is recalling over 10,000 cartons of πŸ₯š organic eggs due to possible salmonella contamination. These eggs, sold under the Kirkland Signature brand and produced by Handsome Brook Farms, were distributed to 25 Costco stores in:

  • Alabama

  • Georgia

  • North Carolina

  • South Carolina

  • Tennessee

starting November 22. The affected cartons have a Julian code of 327 and a use-by date of January 5, 2025.

🏭 The company stated that these eggs were mistakenly packaged for sale when they were actually meant for wholesale distribution. So far, there have been no reported illnesses linked to this recall.

🚨 Salmonella can cause serious infections, especially in young children and older adults. Customers who bought these eggs should not eat them and can return them to Costco for a full refund.

President Joe Biden on pardoning his son

President Joe Biden has granted a pardon to his son, Hunter Biden, who was facing serious legal troubles. Hunter was set to be sentenced for federal πŸ”« gun and tax crimes, but the pardon means he will not have to serve time in prison.

This decision is surprising because President Biden had previously promised not to use his power to help family members in legal matters.

βš– In his statement, President Biden said he believes Hunter was unfairly targeted by political opponents and that the justice system has been influenced by politics. He expressed hope that people would understand his choice as both a father and a president.

This pardon covers any federal offenses Hunter may have committed from 2014 to 2024, which includes his time working with a Ukrainian company. The situation has sparked controversy, especially with Donald Trump preparing for a return to the White House.

Recent research indicates that πŸ¦‡ bat blood may hold the key to human hibernation for long-duration πŸš€ space travel. Scientists from Greifswald University found that the red blood cells of hibernating bats remain functional and flexible at low temperatures, unlike human cells, which become viscous. This ability could enable astronauts to significantly reduce their oxygen and πŸ”‹ energy needs during interstellar journeys, making such missions more feasible.

🍸 Many social drinkers (not alcohol addicts) using obesity medications like Wegovy or Mounjaro have reported reduced enjoyment of alcohol. A study of around 14,000 Weight Watchers members found that nearly 50% cut back on drinking after starting these medications. The findings suggest that heavier drinkers were more likely to decrease their consumption, and this trend was consistent across various anti-obesity drugs.
