AI SUMMIT
US and UK refused to sign the Paris AI Action Summit statement

Source: TechCrunch | Paris AI Summit 2025
What’s going on: The Artificial Intelligence Action Summit in Paris concluded without a unified agreement as both the United States and the United Kingdom declined to sign the joint declaration. The statement, which aimed to ensure that AI development worldwide is "open, inclusive, transparent, ethical, safe, secure, and trustworthy," was meant to guide global AI governance. However, both nations expressed significant reservations about the document's content and implications.
What does it mean: US Vice President, JD Vance, articulated a stance against what he perceived as potential ideological bias or censorship in AI governance, emphasizing the need to maintain US leadership in AI technology. On the other hand, the UK's refusal was based on concerns regarding the clarity of the declaration on issues like global governance and national security.
More details:
Despite the absence of the US and UK, the declaration was signed by 61 other countries, including major players like China, India, and Japan.
Lighter regulation of AI has been a common topic across the event.
In a speech yesterday, French president Emmanuel Macron, emphasized leaders should “avoid the risk-opportunity dilemma” and “the immediate need for regulation, which could block innovation.”
The US’ decision not to sign the AI Action Summit declaration reflects a stance on diplomatic principles. In the initial phase of Donald Trump's second term as president, the US pulled out of multiple international organizations, such as the World Health Organization and the Paris Climate Agreement.

What’s going on: Cerebras Systems and Perplexity AI are partnering to challenge the Google’s dominance in the search engine market which is estimated to have a value of $100 billion. They've launched the Sonar search model, which impressively processes at 1,200 tokens per second, leveraging Meta's Llama 3.3 70B model and Cerebras's AI chips.
What does it mean: This partnership follows Cerebras's previous successes, notably with DeepSeek, which demonstrated superior performance compared to traditional GPU setups. However, the big question remains whether the specialized AI chip approach is scalable and cost-effective enough to challenge the giants like Google and Bing.
More details:
Internal testing shows Sonar beats models like GPT-4o mini and Claude 3.5 Haiku in user satisfaction, while surpassing more costly models like Claude 3.5 Sonnet in factuality.
Sonar will first roll out to Perplexity Pro users, and broader availability will come later.
The Cerebras Wafer-Scale Engine (WSE-3) chip is the world's largest and fastest AI processor, featuring 900,000 AI cores and 44GB of on-chip SRAM. For more details, read this article.

AI + UI/UX development
I want you to act as a UX/UI developer. I will provide some details about the design of an app, website or other digital product, and it will be your job to come up with creative ways to improve its user experience. This could involve creating prototypes, testing different designs and providing feedback on what works best. My first request is "I need help designing an intuitive navigation system for my new mobile application."
